Featherlite
From: Dave M
I bought one in the late fall and took it out of the box this spring. I used once and now when I go to use it starts and then dies. This should not be happening on a new weed eater. So, at this point I am extremely dissattisfied with your product.
Answer:
Hi Dave,
remember, Weed Eater has provided a warranty for two years as it states in the manual. You can still use your warranty and replace the trimmer.

Trimmer shaft will not stay in locked position so trimmer head does not spin. I can occasionally get it to stay long enough to do some trimming but when I stop it will not work again. How do I fix this?
Answer:
Hi Eugene,
my advices is carburetor adjustment. It’s written more in Rita’s answer, the last post at the bottom of this page.
Weedeater Featherlite SST
From: Lou R.
The (2)gas lines running from the tank to the engine have rotted off. I purchased a universal gas line repair kit with 2 lines: a 1/16″ I.D. x 1/8″ O.D., and a 3/32″ I.D. x 3/16″ O.D. The holes on the gas tank are of different sizes. I can’t seem to get the smaller of the two into the smaller hole on the tank. If these lines are the correct size do you have any tips for getting them into the tank holes. Also, I want to change the cutting head. How do I lock the bottom (to keep it from rotating) so I can install the new one? Can I talk to you by phone? Many thanks, Lou.
Answer:
Hi Lou,
similar question was answered above: It must be slightly smaller or otherwise the fuel would leak out of the tank. Here’s one method from an expert to prevent it: I use a label tag wire (about 10″ long), stick it through the hole and out the fuel cap hole. Snip the fuel line at an angle on the end, punch a hole in it then stick the wire through the line and twist it. Now you can pull the line through the hole. Sorry, we don’t have phone support.

Featherlite Weedeater runs at Idle
From: Nick A.
I just bought a weedeater Featherlite. It starts fine but it either runs at idle or at 100%. I want it to run in between this but it dies everytime. It’s new but I don’t know what’s wrong with it.
Answer:
Hi Nick,
have you tried to adjust the carb? The carburetor and fuel mixture are the most common reasons for such troubles.
Weedeater FL26 and GHT225 Hedge Trimmer
From: Ruben R.
Both the weed trimmer FL26 and the hedge trimmer GHT225 excalibur have the same issue and I can’t figure it out. They will start but don’t stay on. I’ve changed the spark plug, fuel line, cleaned the carb and fuel in/out nipples and put in fresh fuel, but am still having the same problem. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ruben R.
Answer:
Hi Ruben,
do you use proper gas mixture as written in manual? Have you tried to make adjustments with the carb? If those tips cannot help, the only thing you can do is consult with an experienced mechanic. Sorry but I’m not an expert, just giving an advice.

From: Bo Z.
Hello, we have a Weed Eater Fetherlite with serial no 2003-162N50641 and we need the clip retainer which is mounted in the end of drive shaft and hold the spool w/line. I have found one on internet but it didn’t look like ours, this clip was mounted by a screw and ours without screw. Hope I have explaned so you can understand me. Best regards, Bo.

Hi Bo,
you wrote serial number not the exact model name, but clip retainer is universal to most Weed Eater products. You are looking for Clip-Retainer-Head # 530401466
used on FL21 or # 530401957 used on Weed Eater FL21LE, FX25LE, XT250LE.
Gas Weedeater Featherlite FL25
From: Jan C.
Is it OK to use .080 line ? Also, what about Rhin-O-Tuff brand or the heavy duty twine like string? Thanks.
Answer:
Hi Jan,
it depends on a type of use, but I think it’s just fine choice. Read details at trimmer line page. Cannot help you to choose brand, I guess you will need to read reviews to find the one that matches the best to your work.
XT260
From: Kellee D.
I’m need to replace my trimmer string. I don’t have the patience to restring it myself and my husband has always purchased a new stringer head. This year all I can find is one for the XT200 and it appears to be smaller than the one we’ve used previously on our XT260. Are they the same – interchangeable? Where can I buy one?
Answer:
Hi Kellee,
a page named trimmer line on our website offers detailed explanations and links to products. It will surely help you when trimmer string comes along. Shipping is available for any country within US.
